Cardamom

Guatemala is the second largest exporter of Cardamom in the world. We did not know that our region could produce this valuable spice. With the help of the local community we started a trial plantation and are surprised with the result. This crop needs shade in order to thrive so we used our Mahogany and Rosewood plantation as shade trees to develop another agroforestry plantation. We wish to inspire our neighbor communities to use valuable timber species for their plantations. This will increase the amount of trees in the region and help mitigate global warming.
